Ong Cop Temple Bridge is also known as the longest wooden Bridge in Vietnam with nearly 800m. The bridge’s width is only from 1m5 – 1m8, so you will have to run carefully and avoid cars and pedestrians a lot at crowded times. The bridge was built in 1998 with an investment capital of up to 1 billion VND. The wooden Bridge of Ong Cop Temple in Phu Yen is the main road for people to travel and attracts many tourists to visit and take pictures to check-in.

Because it is only designed to meet the travel needs of local people, the bridge is mainly built from wood and bamboo. If the handrails and bridges are made of old bamboo, the face and pillars are made entirely of plank wood. At the foot of the bridge, casuarina trees are always “on standby,” as long as the damaged plank can be replaced and repaired immediately to avoid affecting the traffic situation of people.

The way to Ong Cop Wooden Bridge

From Tuy Hoa city, you run along Hung Vuong road to get to National Highway 1A. From here, you need to follow the straight route, no need to think much. Just go straight and go straight. The road will be 35km long, and it will take about 50 minutes to get here. Right at Quang Duc Xua, you say goodbye to the straight route, turn right onto DH31 street. From here, you go straight along the road to reach Hoi Phu Street. Turn left, go directly for a few more kilometers, and you’re there!

The fee of crossing bridge

According to the regulations of the Commune, Ong Cop Bridge must collect fees from people to carry out the maintenance and repair of the bridge every time it rains or storms. But don’t worry because the demand is cheap. If the motorbike takes about 10k for the round trip, it only takes you 1k to walk. The price to cross the bridge is reasonable, the scenery on the bridge is beautiful, why don’t we stop by Ong Cop bridge once?

What’s attractive about Ong Cop Wooden Bridge in Phu Yen?

Quietly admire the poetic and peaceful beauty of Phu Yen

Coming to Ong Cop bridge, you feel at peace by the simple rusticity of the wooden bridge and admire the breathtaking natural scenery here. The lake is calm and expansive. Sometimes because the sea breeze blows, the waves ripple. The casuarina trees in the distance run endlessly, creating a poetic and romantic scene. Sometimes when you come here in the harvest and exploitation season, you will see the image of fishers catching, scratching, and finding snails incredibly idyllic.

You will take great photos like this here.

The sunset makes the scene more poetic and peaceful.

The most beautiful moment at Ong Cop Temple Bridge is when sunset falls. The whole sky was a deep blue a minute ago. Now it has become a brilliant red that everyone has to squint but still wants to see. The sun gradually sinks behind the casuarina trees. The air is calm, sometimes only a little noisy when the traffic passes, then it falls into silence again. If you are bored with the noisy city, this place will be an excellent choice for you.

Sometimes we need to sit down, watch the sunset and listen to our heart say, "Work hard, take a break… well"

Listening to people tell about the historical story of the bridge

The story is about a time when humans and animals could understand each other’s words. One day, Mrs. Cop – Mr. Cop’s wife (Cọp in Vietnamese means Tiger) lived on the mountain of My Ba in labor and was about to give birth. Mr. Cop rushed to find a midwife who often delivered babies in the village. Although very scared, the midwife still helped Mrs. Cop give birth successfully and safely brought down the mountain by Mr. Cop. Later, remembering the midwife’s gratitude, Mr. Cop often brought a wild boar down to the midwife’s yard. After the midwife moved to another place to live to establish a career, not long after that, she passed away. Mr. Cop was very sad. Every year at the end of December, people will see the footprints of Mr. Cop going down to Hon Bu to visit the midwife. Later, when Mr. Cop died, people in memory of gentle and benevolent Mr. Cop were, so they built a temple to worship him. Because the bridge is attached to the shrine, it is also called the Ong Cop Go Wood Bridge, or the Ong Cop Temple Bridge.

This place is very popular with those backpackers.

Notes when coming to Ong Cop Temple Bridge

– The Bridge only allows motorbikes and pedestrians to pass, so you should pay attention to obeying it

– The Bridge is made from old bamboo, so it cannot be as sturdy as reinforced cement. If you have a weak steering wheel, you should park your car and walk to the bridge to take pictures to avoid danger.

– Because the length of bamboo is different, the bridge will not be completely straight, but you may have to “swim” a bit to avoid literally “falling into the water.”

– You should also avoid the rainy and stormy seasons at the end of the year because the bridge may collapse and need to be reworked. The weather at this time is not suitable for photography or sightseeing.

– Because it is pretty far from Tuy Hoa city, if you want, you can stay at nearby motels or homestays to wake up early to watch the sunrise.

What did visitors to Ong Cop wooden bridge say?

“This is one of the best bridges to cross for adventurers. They charged me 10k to go through, but it was worth it. The bridge is made of wood, and it shakes. It is quite fun to come across here. This bridge is 800m long and 1.5m wide.” shared by AK. Driving across the shaking bridge is also an exciting experience for those who love adventure.

“You must not miss this place when coming to Phu Yen, especially since it is located near Ghenh Da Dia Park. Locals use this wooden bridge to cross the river. You can use motorbikes on this road. Tourists might think it’s dangerous. It is interesting to listen to the sound made by the bridge when riding a motorbike on it. They collect tolls, 2000vnd/time.” Minh Ho evaluated. Everyone seems to love running on the shaking bridge.
