Cultural-Historical Sites in Lai Chau Travel

Lai Chau is a land with rich and unique tangible and intangible cultural heritage treasures and many valuable historical, cultural, and revolutionary relics. There are 22 ranked relics in Lai Chau province, including five national-level relics and 17 provincial-level relics. Besides, Lai Chau is a land that still preserves many relics proving the ancient Vietnamese civilization in caves. The system of archaeological sites in Lai Chau has historical and cultural value and attracts tourists to visit, learn and research.

Cultural and historical relic of King Le Thai To temple and national treasure stele

The relic is located 110km southwest of Lai Chau city center, in the administrative territory of Le Loi commune and Pu Dao commune, Nam Nhon district. According to the old history, after fighting with the army and people of the whole country to defeat the invasion of the Ming invaders (in 1428), in 1431, Le Loi led his army along the Da River to calm the traitor Cat Han, ending the rebellion influence of the Ming Dynasty, unifying the country. After winning the battle (January 1, 1432), Le Loi carved an autograph on the stone stele (Le Loi stele) to deter traitors in the homeland, asserting sovereignty and unifying the country at that time. In 2012, Le Loi stele was moved to King Le Thai To’s temple grounds, 500m away from the old location. National historical relic according to Decision 10/VH-QD, dated September 2, 1981,185 of the Ministry of Culture (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) ranked National Monument and officially recognized as one of the priceless national treasures in 2016. This is a cultural and spiritual work for each Lai Chau people to remember the merits of the national hero Le Loi.

Na Cung village and Na Cung resistance cave

Na Cung is one of the first white Thai people who migrated to Lai Chau chose to live. Nearly 30km from Lai Chau city, Na Cung village is located in the middle of a peaceful valley with the cool Nam So stream, murmuring in four seasons, and the Tung So field filled with the scent of rice. Not only beautiful natural scenery, friendly people, in the village there is also the relic of Na Cung resistance cave where people hid their soldiers during the war years.

Lady Ham Temple is located on the bank of Nam So stream, Phong Tho district, Lai Chau province. This temple is the place to worship Han, a talented and beautiful daughter who bravely stood up with her father to fight the invaders. According to legend, Ms. Han came from a poor Thai family in Chieng Sa (now Muong So commune, Phong Tho district, Lai Chau province). She disguised herself as a man and stood up to call on young men to unite to fight the enemy. Han led the uprising of 16 Thai people who resolutely defeated the invaders in the North. After leading the victorious army back, she bathed in Tay An water.

Tham Dan Chan archaeological site

The archaeological site of Tham Dan Che belongs to Muong Kim commune, Than Uyen district, located on the slopes of a low mountain, in the north is Na Pung field, in the west is Na Tham field and Nam Bon stream. These archeological sites are significant in the system of paleontological fossil sites in the North in general and Lai Chau in particular. Tham Dan Che is the only cave relic that has enough information about the oldest fauna of humankind in Vietnam, with the middle and late Canh Tan periods and cave archaeological remains old stone age, new stone age; is a significant historical source contributing to the study of human origins and the most ancient human cultures in the territory of Vietnam.

The relic is located at an altitude of over 600m above sea level, belonging to the watershed of Nam Bon stream (level 1 distributary of Nam Mu river) where has beautiful natural scenery, convenient traffic location near the national highway. 32, 279…, which possesses a typical climate of the alpine tropics all year round. The Luot village in Muong Kim commune is where the first Party Committee and Party cell was established. Binh Lu dong vermicelli does not have a shiny, eye-catching yellow color like the vermicelli of Cu Da village (Hanoi) but has a strange attraction to people who enjoy it. The vermicelli has a characteristic aroma, not sour, crispy, chewy. The tiny vermicelli is very soft when cooked but not sticky. Most significantly, the vermicelli can be re-cooked 2-3 times without being crushed. With outstanding advantages, Binh Lu vermicelli has built consumers’ trust and has become one of the specialties of Lai Chau upland.

Embroidery

In Lai Chau, embroidery is found in many ethnic groups, but the most prominent are still embroidered lines and patterns of the Dao, Hmong, Thai, Ha Nhi, Lu people, etc. In addition to decorative embroidery on the costumes. Embroidered products are also decorated on decorations such as towels, bags, and hats to dress harmoniously and splendidly. The patterns show the creativity and sophistication of the embroiderers. Currently, traditional embroidery is still preserved and handed down by ethnic minorities.

Weaving

Weaving is respected by ethnic minorities and considered a measure of ingenuity, assessing a woman’s role in the family in the village. Most of the Lu, Thai, Dao, Hmong women are proficient in embroidery and weaving. The raw materials for weaving are cotton and flax. Textile products of ethnic minorities are pretty rich in types and very unique patterns. In addition to weaving clothes and skirts, current textile products also have eye-catching bags, towels, slings, blankets, sheets, pillows. Visitors can choose for themselves the products they like as gifts, making memories at the right price.

Culinary of Lai Chau Travel
