Paragliding over the forests, ziplining through the jungle, diving in the depths of the deep sea, exploring the world’s largest cave, etc., are all adventure travel experiences in Vietnam, although difficult but extremely attractive.
Paragliding in Vietnam
Flying is the adventure travel experience that has appeared worldwide for a long time and has thrived in Vietnam in the past ten years. This sport relies on the wind to fly over the mountains and forests to admire the beautiful scenery.

To do a paragliding run, you have to take a short course to learn how to take off on foot, stay steady as you ascend with the wind. Paragliding is a fun and memorable experience, but it also includes many risks, so it must be someone who dares to participate.

Before flying, the pilot will give you step-by-step instructions to ensure you are safe throughout the process. They also help you fasten your safety belt, put on your helmet, and do several safety checks before you start flying. During the flight, you need to relax to admire the beautiful scenery below and chat with the pilot.

In Vietnam, you can experience paragliding at Vien Nam Mountain, Hanoi – with a peak of 1,031 m above sea level. When you fly up, you can admire the scenery of each green rice field surrounded by treelines. The flight can take about 30 minutes.

Zipline is also one of the adventure travel experiences in Vietnam that many tourists love. A Zipline slide is one or two long cables, one end connected to the top of a mountain or mountain body to create elevation, the other end attached to the lake or inland for a particular slope.

When participating in this game, you have to wear body protection equipment, hang yourself on a cable, starting from the highest place. During the slide, you will be able to admire the extraordinary beauty of nature mixed with excitement and fear.

Major eco-tourism sites in Vietnam have gradually put this adventure travel experience into serving the needs of tourists. If you want to slide the Zipline safely, you can go to Hoa Phu Thanh tourist area in Da Nang, Alba Thanh Tan hot spring in Hue, Ho May Vung Tau tourist area, Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park in Quang Binh, or Forest Madagui country in Da Lat.

The slide has different lengths and slopes in each location, but all of them give you adventurous sliding experiences in the blink of an eye. In the Hoa Phu Thanh tourist area, the 2-wire slide has a high level of safety, suitable for those who skate for the first time.
The zipline at Alba Thanh Tan Hot Spring is 45.5 m high and 560 m long, starting from Ma Yen mountain, taking you through the green forest, and the last stop is beside the romantic lake.

The zipline is more than 200 m long and 500 m high above sea level at Ho May Vung Tau tourist area. The short journey takes you through the ravines, cruising the sea and enjoying the cool breezes.

The slide in Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park comes from the west branch of Ho Chi Minh Road, goes to Dark Cave located across the Chay River with a length of about 400 m. During the zipline, you can see the beautiful, majestic, but equally poetic mountains here.

The zipline in Madagui Lam Dong national forest is 1,111m long, 40m high above sea level, providing views down to rivers, streams, lakes, and stunning green forests.

Compared to other adventure travel experiences in Vietnam, the cost of zipline skating is somewhat lower, only from 250,000 to 300,000 VND/trip. However, this is still an activity that brings memorable experiences for visitors who like adventure games.
Son Doong Expedition
Son Doong cave in Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province, is the largest natural cave globally, listed by much international media as one of the must-visit destinations at least once in your life.

Son Doong Cave is nearly 9 km long. In some places, the ceiling is up to 200 m high, and the width is up to 175 m, which can overwhelm anyone who enters here. Geologists believe that the Son Doong cave was formed about 2-5 million years ago. The size of the cave is equivalent to an airport, accommodating approximately 68 Boeing 777 aircraft simultaneously.

In addition to its large size, Son Doong cave is also home to a lively flora system, green, wild and majestic primeval forests. The cave has its temperature and climate, utterly separate from the outside world.

Son Doong Cave attracts many tourists who prefer adventure tourism, of which 98% are foreign tourists. To participate in the caving journey, you need to register for a whole year in advance, undergo several comprehensive tests on fitness, survival skills, etc., and pay a fee of up to 3,000 USD.

The journey to explore Son Doong cave includes main activities such as passing 17 km of mountain roads, exploring 8 km of caves, including walking and climbing by rope, crossing 90 m of Vietnam wall, climbing slopes 800 m high, crossing the underground river in the cave, and camping overnight right in the cave.

During this process, you will experience fatigue when walking for a long time, getting wet when wading in a stream, encountering intense sunlight due to dizziness due to climbing, possibly being injured by sharp cliffs, and heart palpitations every time crossing the sinkhole. However, the journey will bring you memorable memories from the beginning to the end.

Scuba diving
More than the process of exploring in a deep forest or a big cave, the feeling of being surrounded by seawater that makes you suffocate is the most difficult challenge. This activity is also a type of adventure tourism in Vietnam that you can try yourself to visit the beautiful seas.
Scuba diving is a method of diving underwater with breathing apparatus. This form allows visitors to dive to the bottom of the sea to explore the colorful world under the ocean.

Before participating in the experience, you need to take a small class on the basics of diving, such as hand signals, how to use an oxygen tank for breathing.
When entering the water, participants must wear lead weights weighing up to 14 kg and an oxygen tank weighing 9 kg, so even if they can’t swim, they can still dive to the deep seafloor. You will be wearing a life jacket connected to the oxygen tank. After diving, it will be withdrawn when in the life jacket. When you want to float, you can pump oxygen back into the life jacket.

The water pressure is too great, it will make the divers feel an earache, so if you are not used to it, you cannot participate in this experience. Feeling surrounded by water can make you feel unsafe, fearful, and restless.
If you can’t calm down, the process of exploring the seabed will be like the feeling of missing a step in a dream, vague, and easy to collapse. On the contrary, if you calmly face and get used to the water pressure, you will have a very memorable time.

The cost for a scuba diving trip is about 900,000 -1.5 million VND/person. The big seas such as Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Vung Tau, Da Nang all have adventure tourism. Suppose you do not have a scuba diving certificate. In that case, you can only dive for up to 30 minutes in the sea about 5 meters deep, accompanied by a professional instructor to ensure safety.

Wanting to participate in an adventure travel experience and the cost, you also need to be prepared both mentally and physically. People with heart disease, fear of heights, and mental illnesses can’t do these activities. Taking risks will bring great memories, but each person’s health and stamina are more important. However, if there is no problem and you want to experience it, please feel free to register.
