02. When is the best time to travel to Hanoi? Hanoi Travel Guide

Hanoi completely attracts a lot of foreigners by the peaceful life, the intimate atmosphere, and the weather in there. Although the weather is divided into two main seasons: rainy season (from May to September), and dry season (from November to March). Thank to transition months, Hanoi still experiences all four seasons: spring, summer, autumn, and winter. The cold weather of Hanoi will start from December and may last until late February, with the average temperature of 17.2 degrees. However, sometimes it may drop to below 10 degrees, and the high humidity will lend a hand in making the weather bitter cold.

The best and romantic time to visit Hanoi is autumn ( from September to November). With the average temperature is 25 degree, Hanoi’s autumn is charming with warm sunlight, cool breeze, and dry atmosphere.

03. How to get to Hanoi? Hanoi Travel Guide

Airplane

There are many airlines serving the route to Hanoi (Hà Nội). You could refer to the ticket price of airlines such as Vietnam Airline, Vietjet Air and Jetstar Pacific. To move from Noi Bai international airport to the center area of Hanoi, you can take the transship bus of the two domestic airlines which are Jetstar and Vietjet with the price of about 40,000 and 50,000 VND/turn.

Coach

There are two quality coach brands serving the route Northern- Southern including Mai Linh bus and Hoang Long ( Hoàng Long) bus. You can buy the tickets in Mien Dong ( Miền Đông) bus station or book online at their website. The average ticket price from HCM city to Hanoi ( Hà Nội) is VND 800,000.

Train

The price of Thong Nhat Bac Nam (Thống Nhất Bắc Nam) train ranges from 1,166,000 VND/turn to 1,246,000 VND/turn. From Ha Noi Railway Station located on Le Duan (Lê Duẩn) street to the city center, it takes about 10 to 15 minutes by taxi.

Moving/ Vehicle in Hanoi

+ Motorcycle:  You can explore Hanoi by yourself by renting a motorcycle. price for renting about VND 100,000 to VND 150,000 VND per day.

+ Bus: This is public transport for visitors when traveling to Hanoi. Price is quite cheap, about VND 7,000 to VND 9,000.

+ Taxi: There are some popular taxi brands: Mai Linh ( Tel: 024.38.222.666), Taxi Group (Tel: 024.38.26.26.26), V20 (Tel: 024.38.20.20.20)

One Pillar ( Một Cột) Pagoda
One Pillar ( Một Cột) Pagoda is located in the western part of the city, near Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, Ong Ich Khiem ( Ông Ích Khiêm) Street, Ngoc Ha, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi. It stands in the middle of a square lake constituting part of the Buddhist architectural complex called Dien Huu (Diên Hựu) pagoda. As you visit Hanoi, you may come to various other monuments, parks and historical places. Yet, the One-Pillar Pagoda reflects the architectural splendor that the country has grown.

Ba Dinh (Ba Đình) Square and President Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum

Visiting Hanoi, it is indispensable to ignore the political center of Vietnam with the Parliament, the Presidential Palace, the historic Ba Dinh (Ba Đình) Square where Uncle Ho has read the manifesto give the birth of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is also the place where Uncle Ho’s body is located and kept. When visiting here, visitors must comply with the requirements of formally dressing up, not bringing electrical equipment and keeping order in the mausoleum.

Imperial Citadel of Thang Long

The Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, is an intriguing relic of Vietnam’s history and, signifying its historical and cultural importance, was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010. Visitors should head for the display room that features interesting excavated items and mock-ups of the citadel itself.

Hanoi Opera House

This is a smaller version of the Opera Garnier in Paris. Hanoi opera house is located on a central street. This place is the place for many important events of Vietnam.

Tran Quoc (Trấn Quốc) Pagoda

Located on a small peninsula on the East side of West Lake, Tran Quoc Pagoda is regarded as the most ancient pagoda in Hanoi with its history line of more than 1,500 years. The architecture of this Buddhist center is a subtle combination of the solemn and beautiful landscape on the peaceful and quiet ambiance of West Lake’s surface.

West Lake ( Hồ Tây)

West Lake is the largest lake in Hanoi located not far from the center of the city.  Adjacent to the lake, there is an old village named Nghi Tam (Nghi Tàm), which retains the elegant hobbies of old Hanoians, such as bonsai and decorative plants. Nghi Tam is also called as the flower village. Every spring, this village is be filled with colors of fresh flowers. Near West Lake, there is Ngu Xa (Ngũ Xá) village with the traditional industry of bronze casting, Yen Phu (Yên Phụ) village with the craft of making incense. They are both worth-visiting places when traveling in Hanoi.

Long Biên (Long Biên) Bridge

Not only is it a historical witness that connects the two banks of Hong River, Long Bien Bridge is also a bridge between the peaceful life of people in the middle of the Hong River with the bustle of the city.

Duong Lam (Đường Lâm) Ancient Village

Duong Lam ancient village is located in the southern bank of the Red River in Son Tay town, Hanoi, about 50 km from Hanoi. This is the first village to be recognized as the National Cultural History and Cultural Heritage in 2006. With the typical beauty of the northern villages, this place still preserves the rustic simplicity of the ancient house’s roof. The yards, roads were paved with old flagstones. Ba Vi (Ba Vì) National Park

Ba Vi National Park is one of Vietnam’s most famous places of outstanding natural beauty and is centered around a three-peaked mountain jutting steeply out of the landscape. The national park offers a great escape from the city with cool fresh mountain air in a mystical atmospheric backdrop of clouds, jungle, and tropical rain forest.

Quan Son (Quan Sơn) Lake

Quan Son lake is about 50 kilometers from the center of Hanoi. This place is the perfect attraction for nature-lovers to enjoy on the weekend. Quan Son Lake consists of 100 limestone mountains on its surface and the beautiful scenery is the combination of the sky, water, and towering limestone mountains, somewhat similar to that of UNESCO World Heritage Site Ha Long Bay.

Bat Trang (Bát Tràng) pottery village

Bat Trang Pottery village is about 20km far away from the city center, located at the left bank of the Red River. For generations, Bat Trang is famous for its quality pottery throughout the country. You could go around the village, there are many ceramic workshops; the streets around the village are unique coal drying walls and rustic old houses.

Tram ( Trầm) Mountain

Tram ( Trầm) mountain is located in Phung Chau Commune, Chuong My district, less than 30km from Hanoi center. The mountain is not too high, but it has extremely beautiful terrain, with many caves, and winding trails in flat valleys, where you can camp BBQ party.
