Blooming season on the rock plateau

Among the rocky mountains, there are many colors: the red of rice flowers, the vibrant oranges of mustard flowers, the pink and white of peaches, plum flowers in front of the Mong’s porches.

Rice flowers blooming along with the fields. In addition to the characteristic red color, many rice plants have also orange flowers. According to locals, this year the rice flower in Ha Giang blooms thicker and more beautiful than previous years. Throughout the mountains of Ha Giang forest, everywhere is the color of the rice-flower.

Rice flowers bloom brightly on the Bac Sum slope. Along with Heaven Gate and Quan Ba Mountain, the Bac Sum slope is one of the main attractions in Ha Giang.

As the weather gets warmer in March, the rice flower season begins. At this time, visiting Ha Giang, you will see the flowers blooming around halfway up the mountain and on both sides of the rocky highland road.

According to a tour guide, if you travel to Ha Giang this year, you will have more advantages because, in addition to rice flowers, some areas are also adorned with the brilliant yellow of the mustard flowers. You can find blooming mustard-flower fields in the area of Chin Khoanh slope, Pho Cao commune and Sung La commune (Dong Van district).

Peach and plum flowers bloom in front of a typical earthen house of the Mong people.

Mr. Nguyen Van Trai, director of a local tourism company, said that the rice flower season attracts many tourists because of the beautiful weather, and partly of the farming season which is a suitable time for visitor to experience the culture together with the locals. In particular, the Mong people are the largest population in Ha Giang province, famous for its tradition of cultivating on rock fields.

March is also the time when people in Ha Giang begin the spring tea making season when young green tea buds are racing to grow on the old Shan Tuyet root for the best quality of the harvest.
