Xyris Indica

Tram Chim National Park (Tam Nong District, Dong Thap Province) not only has a red-headed crane but also has an extraordinary flower, almost a “specialty,” only in Dong Thap, and it is Xyris Indica.

The beauty of the Xyris Indica

It has been three years since the Xyris Indica appeared again densely in Tram Chim National Park. This year, the carpet seems mainly in the A5 area, spread over six hectares. The Xyris Indica appeared in Tram Chim National Park for a long time; however, it was not until 2015 that flowers blossomed into a vast carpet of flowers, attracts a lot a people to take the photo.

Over the past three years, visitors look forward to every dry season to admire the beauty of Xyris Indica, but it did not appear. Luckily, this late February and early March, this flower appears again, which makes visitors extremely excited as having the opportunity to return to Tram Chim, admiring the beauty of the pristine Xyris Indica.

The carpet of flowers captivated visitors.

“It was a surprise to first come to such a beautiful flowerbed. Going to visit the flower carpet through the canoe, walking a bit strenuous, but being immersed with the beautiful nature of the flower field, we feel very comfortable. Next year if the Xyris Indica blooms again, I will come back to see.” Dang Thuy Lan from Ho Chi Minh City shared.

The Xyris Indica reaches its peak during the hot season; it has a strange name with unique features. Director of Tram Chim Tourist Area, Le Hoang Long, said: “The Xyris Indica grows naturally and blooms in about two months which its time range is from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm. Flowers bloom as many buds look like a small seal mounted on a trunk in the field of 10 to 20 cm long.

The Xyris Indica blooms on the acidic soil of Tram Chim National Park but brings beauty to life. According to Tram Chim Tourist Area, depending on the situation of growth and development of flowers, the time serving visitors may be extended or not. T

The Xyris Indica exists for just over a month and a half, and the flowering period is also quite short. Therefore, if you have the opportunity to discover the Southern region, come to Tram Chim National Park to save the moment, to admire and learn about the flowers blessed by nature that brings us a feeling of peace.
