Overview about Lung Ngoc Hoang Nature Reserve

Lung Ngoc Hoang is a large nature reserve located in Phung Hiep district, Hau Giang province, about 40 km from Vi Thanh city center. In the local language, Lung Ngoc Hoang means “the flooded lowland of heaven.” And as the name suggests, this place is a vast wetland with wild and mysterious scenery.

Lung Ngoc Hoang Nature Reserve covers ​​more than 2,800 hectares, stretching from the area west of the Hau River to the land of U Minh. This place is considered the green lung of the Mekong Delta and is also considered the most diverse nature reserve in the country.

History of Lung Ngoc Hoang Reserve

According to many historical documents, Lung Ngoc Hoang was reclaimed about 120 years ago. Previously, this place was famous as a deadly swamp, extraordinarily wild and deserted. By 1945, many landowners had come here to explore farming and raising fish. During the war, Lung Ngoc Hoang also became a revolutionary base that played a significant role. In 2002, the Lung Ngoc Hoang nature reserve was officially established and became a famous tourist destination of Hau Giang province.

Lung Ngoc Hoang possesses the most diverse ecosystem in the country

With a vast area, Lung Ngoc Hoang Nature Reserve is currently home to hundreds of rare species of flora and fauna. According to statistics, 330 plants belong to 224 genera, 92 families, and many animal species currently listed in the Red Book of Vietnam.

How to move to Lung Ngoc Hoang Nature Reserve?

From Saigon, you can choose from many different vehicles such as passenger cars, motorbikes, or cars to move to Lung Ngoc Hoang.

If you start from Saigon, follow the National Highway 1A to Can Tho city, then continue to move along National Highway 1A to Soc Trang about 40 km, you will arrive at the Y-shaped bridge. Through the Y-shaped bridge about 1km, you will reach the area.

When to explore Lung Ngoc Hoang Nature Reserve?

Hau Giang province is located in a tropical climate area, bearing bold climate characteristics of the western region of the river. According to the experience of exploring the Lung Ngoc Hoang tourist area, you can come here at any time of the year. However, for the trip to be convenient, you should go from November to April next year. At this time, it is sunny and beautiful, rarely rain or storm, so it will be very convenient for visitors to explore and play activities.

Ticket prices to visit Lung Ngoc Hoang Hau Giang nature reserve are as follows:

  • Adults: 60,000 VND/ 1 ticket.
  • Children > 6 years old: 30,000 VND/ 1 ticket.
  • Children under 6 years old are completely free.

Take a motorboat ride to explore the Melaleuca forest

Inside the Lung Ngoc Hoang Reserve, there is an area called Spring Farm. This place is famous for its unique Melaleuca forest and flocks of birds and mallards, up to thousands of them. The interlaced canals are covered with a dense, green layer of duckweed, creating a scene that makes anyone overwhelmed.

To explore the area, you will have to use a motorboat. The deeper you go inside, the more opportunities you will have to admire the beautiful nature here. The ticket price for renting a motorboat is about 50,000 VND/ person.

Enjoy the view from the observatory

Inside the Lung Ngoc Hoang nature reserve, there is a 3-story observatory 12 meters high. This is an excellent place for you to admire the unspoiled beauty of the Reserve. In the distance is a vast green field dotted with flocks of birds in the sky. All will be in your sight when standing from the top of the observatory.

Pancakes
