Hon Khoai is a pristine and charming island located in the picturesque island cluster of Vietnam’s southernmost. Pristine beauty, fresh air along with the beautiful natural scenery make Hon Khoai a tourist destination in Ca Mau.

Introducing Hon Khoai Island

Hon Khoai is an archipelago of many small islands: Hon Lon, Hon Nho, Hon Tuong, Hon Sao, Doi Moi Hon. Through the process of tectonics and random arrangement from nature, the islands have formed a large sweet potato in the middle of the sea. Therefore, the beautiful island in the southernmost part of the country is called Hon Khoai.

Located 14.6km from the mainland to the southwest, Hon Khoai Island has an area of ​​only about 4 square kilometers, this is an island of rocks, hills, and ancient forests that are almost intact with many valuable kinds of wood, unique populations of maple trees. With abundant and wild natural scenery, it has attracted many visitors to visit this beautiful and unique island.

How to go to Hon Khoai

From Ca Mau city, tourists come to Tran De fishing village (the southernmost fishing village of To Quoc) and change boats to Hon Khoa island i. The only means of transport to the island is a border ship or a fishing boat because the unspoiled Hon Khoai Island has no pier going to the islands here.

The best way to go to the island is that you can contact the fishing boat to have a ride or rent one with about 2.5 million VND / boat. If you’re lucky, there is a train to organize passengers to come here; each ticket will cost around VND 120,000 / person).

What is special about Hon Khoai?

Hon Khoai Island is famous as the pearl of the Southernmost“. Surrounded by mountains, the turquoise of the sea and the green of the forest attracts visitors by its pure beauty.

Island in the southernmost has charming scenery. Nature here is still pristine, peaceful, yet most affected exploitation of human beings, deserve to be one of the destinations in Ca Mau that you should not ignore when traveling to the South.

Around the island, there is an intensive sea view with thousands of large stones lying side by side with continuous waves of the shore. This adds to the unspoiled beauty of the island. Besides, Hon Khoai has two white-sand beaches, including Big Beach in the Southeast and Small Beach in the North, which is very suitable for resting, relaxing, swimming.

Visiting Hon Khoai, the boat carrying tourists will stop at Bai Nho, from there take a small boat to the shore about 50m. The most special feature of this island is the very beautiful egg stone beach, Mother Nature also favors this place with a shade of maple trees, casuarina garden with a cool wind.

The island had few residents, so there is only a few small grocery stores, mostly border guards, guarded the sea. Because of that, Hon Khoai still retains the wild beauty inherent of a beach tourism .

The most outstanding work is probably the 100-year-old lighthouse – a place you cannot miss when traveling to Hon Khoai. This tower is located on the highest peak of Hon Khoai, built by the French in 1920, which is considered as one of the earliest lighthouse works in Vietnam’s territorial waters.

Follow the spiral staircase to the lighthouse, the open space is blue, the sky is windy and windy. There is also a telescope, which allows you to see the surrounding islands, or head towards Ca Mau cape to once admire from afar the sacred cape of the end of the Country, which is not easy to see without going to Hon Khoai Island .

In the sea, when traveling Hon Khoai , you can explore the hills and primeval forests with many kinds of valuable woods, hundreds-year-old trees and a rich flora and fauna population, wild natural landscapes.

The forest also has many fruit trees planted by people such as bananas, mangoes, guavas, etc. and hidden in the green of trees is a little purple color of Lagerstroemia flowers. Especially in the spring, throughout the forest, the yellow color of apricot flowers is brilliant.

What to eat?

Not only has the poetic natural scenery and long-standing historical sites, Hon Khoai is also a typical eating paradise of Ca Mau cuisine such as shrimp, crab, grilled oysters, etc.

Especially the dishes are made from seafood that has just been caught from the sea so it still retains a fresh taste. Preliminary seafood will be served to visitors right on the beach. Certainly, if you have tasted once, you can hardly forget the unique, fresh taste of Ca Mau specialties.
