Ghositaram is a large temple located in Cu Lao hamlet, Hung Hoi commune, Vinh Loi district, Bac Lieu province. So the locals call this temple as Cu Lao Pagoda for convenience.

Amid the green plain of a garden, the Khmer temple in Bac Lieu is a striking feature. With the primary colors of red, pink, and yellow combined with the sharp tower architecture style, this place looks like a magnificent, mysterious castle.

Back in history, the Ghositaram Bac Lieu Pagoda was built in 1840 on an area of ​​up to 4 hectares. Over the centuries, this temple was somewhat damaged. So in 2001, the main temple hall was rebuilt and achieved perfect beauty after ten years of construction.

To the locals, Ghositaram is more than just a temple – a place of religious activities. But this place is like a “fine art museum” – preserving typical Khmer cultural architecture. The brilliance and prominence blended with sophisticated beauty have created timeless value for this largest Khmer temple in Vietnam.

Visiting Ghositaram Pagoda, you will see the main hall standing between the four sides of green trees. The main hall with the triangular temple roof stacked on top of each other, soaring high into the deep blue sky. The structure of the main hall building is rectangular with an area of ​​427 m2 and is up to 36 meters high.

Going along the outside of the building, visitors will admire the frescoes, statues embossed with colorful colors. It is a picture depicting truthfully and vivid stories related to Buddha’s life. At the same time, it sends meaningful messages about the Buddhist teachings.

To have a spectacular and beautiful Ghositaram Bac Lieu temple today, the artisans took 4 years to complete the decorative patterns and motifs of the temple. That is why this place is considered a true art museum.

Accompanying with the gaudy and magnificent exterior is the grooming and elegance inside. Step into the main hall and walk along the corridor of the temple precinct, you will come across huge columns of gold-painted lacquer. Each pillar has a very large size, in the middle of the red paint and the two ends, there are carves with many patterns, painted in brilliant gold.
