Da Lat in Rainy season

Surely everyone wants to remember Da Lat on mildly sunny days, when the whole city is foggy with a chill, fresh and pleasant atmosphere. But suppose you have the opportunity to travel to Dalat in the rainy season. In that case, you will realize that the rainy season in Da Lat also has many exciting experiences. Take a walk through the article below to see what to do in the rainy season in Da Lat!

1. What month is Dalat rainy season?

Dalat rainy season starts from about May to October every year. The rain in Da Lat is not as heavy as the showers of the South, nor lasts as long as the heavy rains of the Central region; the rain here is gentle, quiet, and highly romantic. Suddenly, sometimes it rains all day. But the most beautiful is the scene of the whole city hidden in the misty mist after the rain.

Traveling in the rainy season also has another advantage: the low season, so the famous places of Da Lat do not fall into overcrowding, jostling, spoiled for you to have fun and enjoy the scenery. Airfares, hotel room rates, service charges, and transportation costs are also much lower than peak season.

2. Enjoy Dalat rainy season at homestay

One of the simplest and most effective ways to enjoy the rainy season in Dalat is to hide in a beautiful homestay, breathe in the fresh air and feel the cold. Da Lat has billions of homestays that are enough to upgrade the romance of a rainy day, making it impossibly warm.

A wonderful morning in Da Lat is just waking up to the sound of rain falling on the tin roof with tiny drops of water rolling down the glass door. Just curl up in a blanket, lazily read a few lines of a book on the shelf, or sit by the door frame counting the rain, choosing a homestay with a large window, opening a poetic and romantic natural scene, watching the rain will become even more “chilled.”

3. Le la coffee watching the rain

Referring to Da Lat in the rainy season, besides the cold weather, dense fog, but hot food, the cafe is also indispensable. Da Lat has a whole “basket” of cafes with different locations, unique designs with its imprint, unique decor, diverse menu of drinks and snacks. You can freely choose a beautiful restaurant, sit down with a cup of coffee, and let your eyes down to the rolling mountains hidden behind the clouds, amidst the melodious music and the sound of the rain falling.

Some beautiful rain-watching cafes in Da Lat can be mentioned as Waiting for One – a cafe-shop located on a high hill, hidden deep in the forest, surrounded by green pine trees, designed entirely from wood with unique features. The glass house is floating in the middle of the lake, full of tables and chairs inside, decorated like a miniature coffee shop. Or Gau Garden is nestled in the middle of a poetic space, a vast valley with houses, mountains, green pine hills, and even misty clouds if it is a day after the rain. Or Cheo Veooo Coffee Shop is located in the middle of a very high slope, hidden behind a luxuriant grove of trees with a few tiny steps down the way, where you can feel the lightness and peace of the rainy season in Dalat with melodious melodies, sometimes the sound of the wind whistling in each tree.

4. Enjoy hot specialties

In the rainy afternoon of Da Lat, the weather is cold, but enjoying the hot specialties while the smoke is blowing, there is nothing like it. Whether the rainy season in Dalat makes you wet or freezing, these dishes will definitely “warm-up” you from the inside immediately.

Beef hotpot

Inside the chill space of the rainy days, sitting around a hot pot, inhaling the delicious flavor inside the beef hot pot will be an experience that you will never forget. Ba Toa beef hot pot is famous for its thick, large, and long pieces of beef, with full veins, tail, and bucket, served with egg noodles and quality Da Lat greens. With a hot pot for four people to eat, the price is reasonable, only about 250,000 VND.

Chicken hot pot with Giang leaves.

Besides beef hotpot, chicken hotpot is also a “flawless” dish for the rainy season of Da Lat. Ga is é hot pot consisting of chopped chicken, hot pot broth with the pungent aroma of chili, served with vermicelli, oyster mushrooms, a little bamboo shoots, and a plate of é leaves. When dipping the leaves into the pot of hot pot, you should take them out and eat them while they are still rare; you will feel the fleshy, slightly astringent taste of the leaves. You can enjoy this dish at Tao Ngo restaurant for about 200,000 VND.

Bread shumai

Banh mi shumai is an idyllic dish of the people of Da Lat; shumai bread is simply a cup of hot, clear broth, scooped by the owner from a large smoking pot and added with shumai balls, a few slices of pork skin with a bit of green onion, basil used to eat with bread. You can find this dish anywhere in Da Lat from shops outside the market gate, school, Thong Thien Hoc street, or Tran Nhat Duat – Hoang Dieu junction. The price of a portion of shumai bread ranges from 10,000 VND/cup.

Grill

Cuisine in the rainy season of Da Lat is indispensable for grilled dishes, especially dishes such as grilled meat, grilled potatoes, grilled corn, grilled chicken seeds, etc. But the most attractive is still grilled rice paper, a legendary dish made with chicken, beef, cheese, sausage, and egg and onion ingredients.

Soymilk

Soy milk is available everywhere, but drinking milk in the rainy season in Da Lat is “correct.” In addition to soy milk, restaurants often have cakes to accompany or other milk flavors such as green bean milk, black beans, peanuts to enrich the menu and help you change your taste.

5. Taking photogram in beautiful architectures

If you have been bored by the rain, you can spend time visiting the beautiful architecture with a roof. Da Lat is likened to a miniature Paris because a French doctor, Alexandre Yersin, discovered it, and Da Lat was built and developed from there. French colonial buildings were erected and are still in use today, much of which features French architecture.

Palaces of King Bao Dai

One of the famous French-built architectural works in Da Lat must mention the luxurious and sophisticated mansions and villas, both classic and a bit modern and Western. Including Palace I, II, III, Tran Le Xuan Palace, or Nam Phuong Hoang Hau palace. These are places associated with the life of King Bao Dai, with him and his family experiencing life’s events. You can visit, not only sightseeing, take pictures but also learn more about our country’s history.

Pedagogical colleges

This is a school built by the French, recognized as one of the 1000 unique architectural works of the world from the 20th century. The school is famous for its exceptional beauty, with its curved design in an arc, accompanied by a large turret. Currently, this is a place to train future generations and serve guests to visit and take photos.

Dalat Railway Station

Da Lat station used to be a means of transport on the 84km route from Da Lat to Phan Rang. The station’s design is inspired by the simulation of the famous Langbiang mountain, becoming one of the perennial symbols of Da Lat. Here, you will have the opportunity to experience taking a train from Da Lat station to Trai Mat.

Domaine De Marie Church

The church has a design that combines the two styles of East-West, taking the model of the Rong houses as the original, then adding classical and luxurious European-style designs, making the church the most beautiful church in the world. It becomes one of the destinations that you should miss when traveling to Dalat.

6. Go “chill” at night

If it’s a typical evening in Da Lat, everyone chooses the option of walking around the streets, walking along Xuan Huong Lake, lounging at the Da Lat night market, or going out to eat and drink coffee with friends. But if you travel to Dalat from May to October, it seems that it is difficult to have fun outdoors in the evening.

Prepare a “backup” plan to go to bars/pubs to both shelters in the rainy season and “chill” together. It also seems to have the direction of romantic and dreamy Da Lat, so the bars here are a bit different from the crowded and bustling city. Each restaurant has a style that is very attractive and impressive. You can refer to a few famous bars in Da Lat, such as:

  • The Fog Bar: 76 Truong Cong Dinh
  • Woody Classic Bar: 14-16 Hoa Binh Zone, 49A Truong Cong Dinh
  • Heyla Cocktail Bar: 10 Tan Da
  • Leon: The Professional: 278 Hai Ba Trung
  • Fox’s Den: 56 Tang Bat Ho

Traveling to Dalat in the rainy season is something that most people are afraid of. But as long as you relax and know how to enjoy it, this will be a great experience.
